Word to Dig: Plantito - Plantita

 It has been over a year now when the Philippines was put into a community quarantine due to coronavirus pandemic. And with new normal living, numerous new terms were discovered too. Plantito and Plantita are definitely among those new terms.

In the Philippines, uncles are often referred to as Tito while aunts are usually called Tita.  The rise of home gardening during the pandemic in the Philippines leads to the introduction of Plantito (male) and Plantita (female) terms to refer someone who loves and enjoys taking care of plants regardless of their reasons – either as a way to relieve stress or another business to venture on in the midst of pandemic.
